Overnight oatmeal

Update: I know the color is not appetising,  that's because of the turmeric I add for inflamatory purpose, you don't have to do that.  It's delicious though and very convenient on the boat.

They are great for busy mornings.  I think I'm going to make plenty of them when I go back to work.  I know it's going to be hard to get reaccustomed to a working schedule.

Overnight oatmeal

Ingredients

1/4 cup                                                            Oatmeal
1/4 cup                                                            Walnuts
1/4 cup                                                            Raisins
1/4 cup                                                            Vanilla Greek yogurt (optional)
1/2 cup                                                            Milk of choice
1 teaspoon                                                     Cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon                                                 Turmeric (optional)

Directions

Put all the ingredients in a jar, shake and refrigerate.   It's ready to eat the following morning.  It's good for as long as the expiration date of the yogurt.

Sometimes I use plain yogurt and add 1 tablespoon of maple syrup as a sweetener.

My husband is a routine guy and I don't dare to change it, since he likes it so much, but you could certainly use another kind of nuts and berries or peaches.   In that case I would put more of the fruits, probably 1/2 cup.

I added blueberries this morning.

Make it à la you and bon appétit!

Grandma's bread, made with milk

I'm making bread this morning.  Yesterday I asked aunt Jacinthe to give me Grandma's recipe and she took a picture of it.  I love to see grandma's hand writing and the way it is redacted.  I wonder if she wrote down her mom's instructions.  It doesn"t seem to be  from a book.  I'll have to ask around. I found yeast in the pantry with a 2017 expiration date.  I thought I would steep it in water with sugar and see if it still good or not.  After 10 minutes I was not sure so I thought I would take a picture and asked my aunt if she thinks it's ok.  By the time I got my phone I could see that it was good.  Lesson learned: don't toss your yeast before trying it out.
