Sprouted lentil salad

Lentil is one of the food that my husband discovered because of me.  They are good for you, they have proteins, fibers, complexe carbs, iron and more.  And they have few calories.  Sprouted ones are easier to digest and you don't have to cook them.  (scroll down to see how to do it, it's easy).  I like them in sandwiches, on top of Chinese dishes and just for munching.  They are hearty, fresh, crunchy, peppery,  juicy; I love them.  Today I'm making a salad to bring on a hike.

Sprouted lentil salad

1/2 cup                                                 Sprouted lentil
1/4 cup                                                 Matchstick carrots
1/2 cup                                                 Diced tomatoes ( fresh or canned)
2 tablespoons                                     Olives
1 tablespoon                                       Lemon and Olive oil dressing
1 1/2 cup or more                              Lettuce
Salt and pepper to taste.

Directions

I put all the ingredients except the lettuce, in a tupperware and mix well.  I top with lettuce and combine only when ready to eat to avoid the lettuce to wilt.

It's so refreshing!

The only Scott's salad dressing

2 cloves                                       Grated garlic
1 tablespoon                              Greek osr Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon                                  Mustard
1/2 cup                                        Olive oil
Zeste and juice of 1 lemon
Directions

Put all the ingredients in a little jar and shake.  It's good with any salad.

Sprouting lentils

I soaked them in water for a day.  Then I rinced them every day without adding water.  A few days later they are ready to eat.  Don't cover them or partly do it, make sure they can breath.

Use them your way, be active, cook healthily à la you and bon appétit!

Grandma's bread, made with milk

I'm making bread this morning.  Yesterday I asked aunt Jacinthe to give me Grandma's recipe and she took a picture of it.  I love to see grandma's hand writing and the way it is redacted.  I wonder if she wrote down her mom's instructions.  It doesn"t seem to be  from a book.  I'll have to ask around. I found yeast in the pantry with a 2017 expiration date.  I thought I would steep it in water with sugar and see if it still good or not.  After 10 minutes I was not sure so I thought I would take a picture and asked my aunt if she thinks it's ok.  By the time I got my phone I could see that it was good.  Lesson learned: don't toss your yeast before trying it out.
