Healthy pulled chicken (no sugar added)

Update (7/20/2020)

I made it even healthier by adding veggies.  The string beans melted away, added juice and thickened the sauce.  I also cook small potatoes on top and mashed 4 of them. I think I could add almost any vegetable but i won't take a chance.

Scott's verdict : " It's really good!"

I like to make it before going on a boat trip.  Scott makes wraps out of it and I make sandwiches, salad or I complement it with whatever side dish I have.  I even make Chinese fried farro sometimes, sounds weird but it's good.

Healthy pulled chicken

Ingredients

4                                                                     Chicken breasts
3/4 cup                                                          Crushed tomatoes
1/2 cup                                                         Apple sauce
1 teaspoon                                                  Onion powder
5 squirts                                                      Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon                                               Kosher salt
2                                                                    Chipotles in Adobe with 1 teaspoon of the sauce
1 teaspoon                                                  Garlic purée
1 teaspoon                                                 Turmeric
1 teaspoon                                                  Chili powder
1 teaspoon                                                  Paprika
2                                                                    Shredded carrots
2 handfuls                                                  Shredded string beans
1 bag                                                                    Small potatoes

Directions

Place the chicken in a slow cooker, add the other ingredients and mix directly in the cooker.  Put the lid on, turn on slow and let it be for 4 hours.  Add the 2 shredded carrots, the 2 handfuls of string beans and the potatoes.  Cook 4 more hours.  You can also cook on high and reduce the time in half.

Mash 4 of the potatoes to thicken the sauce.

Coming back from work with that aroma is wonderful.

Use your favorite veggies, make it à la you and let me know if you try it.

Grandma's bread, made with milk

I'm making bread this morning.  Yesterday I asked aunt Jacinthe to give me Grandma's recipe and she took a picture of it.  I love to see grandma's hand writing and the way it is redacted.  I wonder if she wrote down her mom's instructions.  It doesn"t seem to be  from a book.  I'll have to ask around. I found yeast in the pantry with a 2017 expiration date.  I thought I would steep it in water with sugar and see if it still good or not.  After 10 minutes I was not sure so I thought I would take a picture and asked my aunt if she thinks it's ok.  By the time I got my phone I could see that it was good.  Lesson learned: don't toss your yeast before trying it out.
