Three bean salad

Three bean salad

Ingredients

14.5 oz.                                                                   Wax beans (fresh if you have them)
About 3 cups                                                         Fresh string beans
14.5 oz.                                                                   Black beans
About 2 tablespoons                                           Olive oil and lemon dressing

Directions

When I used canned wax bean , I boiled the string beans in the wax bean water, 2 minutes, covered.  I like them crunchy.  I drain them, put them back in the pot, add the wax beans, rinsed black beans and dressing.  I mix them gently and transfert to a serving bowl or storage container.  It is good at room temperature or cold.

Olive oil and lemon dressing

Ingredients

2 cloves                                                               Grated garlic
1 tablespoon                                                      Greek seasoning (Italian works too)
5 squirts                                                              Mustard
1/2 cup                                                                 Olive oil
Zest and juice of one lemon.

Directions

Put everything in a little jar, shake and add about 2 tablespoons, or to taste, to the warm beans.  It is so tasty, a little bit goes a long way.  The left over dressing is good with about any salad.

Let me know if you try it.

Grandma's bread, made with milk

I'm making bread this morning.  Yesterday I asked aunt Jacinthe to give me Grandma's recipe and she took a picture of it.  I love to see grandma's hand writing and the way it is redacted.  I wonder if she wrote down her mom's instructions.  It doesn"t seem to be  from a book.  I'll have to ask around. I found yeast in the pantry with a 2017 expiration date.  I thought I would steep it in water with sugar and see if it still good or not.  After 10 minutes I was not sure so I thought I would take a picture and asked my aunt if she thinks it's ok.  By the time I got my phone I could see that it was good.  Lesson learned: don't toss your yeast before trying it out.
