Black bean salsa

It's almost too simple to talk about it but it's too good to not to.  My husband said " it's one of your last minute concoction".  I take it as a compliment and a keeper.

We had some for an afternoon snack with whole grain crackers and we finished it up with our sandwich for dinner.  Very tasty.

Black bean salsa

Ingredients

1 can                                                                     Black beans
1 can                                                                     Tomatoes with green chilies (mild)
1/4 cup                                                                  Extra Sharp cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon                                                      Chives

That's it, mix everything and there you have it.

I'm so happy to have convinced Scott that peppers are not all the same, you like spice... well it comes from chili peppers.  If you are afraid of the world "pepper" but you like heat, you have to realize that and give those tomatoes with chilies a try, they are so flavorful.

Let me know if you try it.

Grandma's bread, made with milk

I'm making bread this morning.  Yesterday I asked aunt Jacinthe to give me Grandma's recipe and she took a picture of it.  I love to see grandma's hand writing and the way it is redacted.  I wonder if she wrote down her mom's instructions.  It doesn"t seem to be  from a book.  I'll have to ask around. I found yeast in the pantry with a 2017 expiration date.  I thought I would steep it in water with sugar and see if it still good or not.  After 10 minutes I was not sure so I thought I would take a picture and asked my aunt if she thinks it's ok.  By the time I got my phone I could see that it was good.  Lesson learned: don't toss your yeast before trying it out.
