Sausage with veggies sheet pan meal

I used andouille sausage, the veggies were carrot, string beans, wax beans, fennel, corn and jicama but any sausage and any veggies would do.

Sausage and veggies sheet pan meal

Ingredients

2  big                                                                  Carrots (sliced)
1                                                                          Jicama (quartered then sliced)
1                                                                          Fennel (quartered then sliced)
1 13 oz.                                                              Andouille sausage (fully cooked)
2                                                                         Corn cobs
1/2 cup                                                              String beans (whole)
1/2 cup                                                              Wax beans (whole)

Directions

Preheat the oven to 425°F.

Place the sliced carrots, jicama and fennel (heart removed) on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper.   Season with oil, salt, pepper and Rosemary.  Cook for 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, husk the corn, prep the string beans, wax beans and slice the sausage.  Line a second sheet pan with parchment paper, place the veggies and half of the sausage.  Season with oil, salt and pepper.  Place some sausage slices on top of corn.

After 20 minutes, take the first pan out and scatter half of the sausage, move everything around and put back in the oven.  Put the other pan too and cook for 20 more minutes, then 2 minutes on broil for each pan, turn by turn.

Take out of the oven and cover with parchment or another pan for 5 minutes, to avoid some dry pieces.

Dinner is ready with not too much dishes.  I love it!  Make it à la you,  be healthy and bon appétit!

Grandma's bread, made with milk

I'm making bread this morning.  Yesterday I asked aunt Jacinthe to give me Grandma's recipe and she took a picture of it.  I love to see grandma's hand writing and the way it is redacted.  I wonder if she wrote down her mom's instructions.  It doesn"t seem to be  from a book.  I'll have to ask around. I found yeast in the pantry with a 2017 expiration date.  I thought I would steep it in water with sugar and see if it still good or not.  After 10 minutes I was not sure so I thought I would take a picture and asked my aunt if she thinks it's ok.  By the time I got my phone I could see that it was good.  Lesson learned: don't toss your yeast before trying it out.
