Braised chicken
Ingredients
2 teaspoons Vegetable base
2 teaspoons Water
1 Whole young chicken
1/4 Onion
2 Cloves of garlic, smashed
Some Celery ends
Black pepper to taste.
Directions
Preheat the oven at 450°F.
Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. Fill the cavity with the onion, garlic and celery. Fennel, orange or lemon and herbs is also nice.
In a little bowl mix 2 teaspoons of vegetable base with 2 teaspoons of water and blackpepper. Poor and spread all over the chicken.
Cook for 20 minutes, uncovered. Then lower the heat to 250°F. cover and cook 1 h. Add carrots, turnip and potatoes cut in medium size pieces and cook one more hour or until cooked through. Uncover and broil for 3 to 4 minutes.
